Privacy policy

Alamat IO Labs Corporation, operating as It's Simple Will ("we", "us"), collects and uses personal information you provide while using this service, in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the privacy laws of the province or territory where you live. This policy covers the app at app.itssimplewill.ca and our public website at itssimplewill.ca. Last updated 2026-09-04.

What we collect

Account details: your email address, the name you give us, and a customer number we assign so support can find your account without using your email. Your answers: everything you enter while building your Will, Power of Attorney, Personal Directive, Life Discovery Kit and funeral pre-plan, and, if you use it, the Order of Service Planner, including any photos you upload and any obituary or remarks you write. Your contacts and family tree, including any family-tree file you import. Payment records from Helcim: what you bought, when, and a reference number. Your card details are entered with Helcim directly; we do not receive or store your card number. Support requests you send from your account. Technical information needed to run and protect the service: your IP address, the country it points to, your browser type, and the time of sign-ins, purchases and document downloads. If you use voice, a record of when a voice session ran and how long it lasted. We do not keep recordings of your voice.

Information about other people

To prepare your documents you will tell us about other people: for example the people you name as executor, attorney, guardian or beneficiary, family members in your family tree, and people you may write about in an obituary. We use that information only to prepare your documents and run the features you choose, and we protect it the same way we protect yours. We do not contact those people unless you ask us to. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing about them. If someone has named you in their documents and you have a question about your own information, you can write to us at support@itssimplewill.ca. We will not share the contents of another person's documents.

How we use it

To generate your documents and make them available in your account after payment. Documents are never sent by email or any other outside channel. To save your progress so you can resume across sessions. To handle your support requests. To send you emails about your account and purchases, such as receipts, notices that a document is ready, reminders you asked for, and notices about changes to these policies. To prevent fraud and abuse. To meet our legal obligations.

Who we work with

We use a small number of service providers to run this service. Each one receives only what its job needs. Supabase hosts our database, sign-in, and the storage for your generated documents and photos, in a Canadian region. Vercel runs the application. Our application code runs in Montréal, Canada. Vercel's routing layer, which checks your sign-in and account status before each page loads, runs at the Vercel location nearest to you, which may be outside Canada if you are outside Canada. Helcim, a Canadian company, processes your payment. We receive a confirmation and a reference, not your card number. Resend, in the United States, delivers our emails. Our emails never contain your documents or your answers. Telnyx, in the United States, provides our telephone line and stores voicemail messages. A voicemail holds what you choose to say and the number you called from, and nothing from your account. Google provides the Gemini model behind Clara's optional voice conversation and behind the optional writing helpers in the Order of Service Planner (obituary, eulogy and host remarks). See "Optional AI features" below. Google Analytics runs on our public website only. See "Analytics on our public website" below. Cloudflare provides the automated check on our sign-in page that tells people from bots (Turnstile). It runs quietly in your browser and uses signals such as your IP address and browser details. It is covered by Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum at https://www.cloudflare.com/turnstile-privacy-policy/. Cloudflare also manages our domain, and our public website is served through Cloudflare's network. Upstash counts requests to our service so no one can flood sign-in, chat or checkout. It briefly holds your IP address or account ID for that count, in a Canadian region. Support requests you send from your account are stored on our support server in Québec, Canada. Support staff see your first name, your customer number and your message, not your email address or the contents of your documents. Some support staff may work from outside Canada, currently the Philippines, and see only that same information, for the purpose of answering your request. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising.

Optional AI features

Clara can run as a voice conversation. If you turn voice on, your speech is streamed to Google's Gemini service, which transcribes it, phrases the next question, and turns your answer into structured data. That means the content of what you say, including the names of people and things you mention, is processed by Google for the length of the session. When you ask to correct an earlier answer by voice, the current value of that answer is sent to Google so Clara can read it back to you. Text mode sends nothing to Google: if you type your answers, no AI is involved. The Order of Service Planner offers optional writing helpers that send the details you enter to Google's Gemini service to draft an obituary, a eulogy or host remarks for you to edit. We use Google's paid service. Under its terms, Google does not use your prompts or the responses to improve its products, and keeps them only for a limited time to detect misuse. Google processes this data on its own infrastructure, in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Your legal documents are assembled by our own software from fixed, province-specific templates and your answers. They are not written by AI. You can complete every document without using any AI feature.

Analytics on our public website

Our public website (itssimplewill.ca) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site, for example which pages and articles are read. This is separate from the app you use to build your documents (app.itssimplewill.ca), where no analytics or tracking software runs. Google Analytics data is processed on Google's infrastructure outside Canada. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Where your information is kept

Your account, your answers, your generated documents and your photos are stored with Supabase in Canada, and our application runs in Montréal. Some steps happen elsewhere. Our emails are sent through Resend in the United States. Voicemail messages are held by Telnyx in the United States. Voice sessions and the Order of Service writing helpers are processed by Google in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Payments are handled by Helcim, a Canadian company. Some support staff may work from the Philippines. Vercel's routing layer may run outside Canada when you are outside Canada. Public-website analytics are processed by Google outside Canada. Downloads are delivered through a content delivery network that may briefly hold a copy near you. Information processed in another country is subject to that country's laws, and may be accessed under them.

Emails we send

We email you about your account and purchases: receipts, a notice when a document is ready, refund confirmations, replies to your support requests, and reminders you asked for. Emails never contain your documents or your answers.

Your privacy rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent (which may limit what the service can do for you), and complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Our Privacy Officer answers questions about how we handle your information, including our use of service providers outside Canada: Privacy Officer, Alamat IO Labs Corporation, operating as It's Simple Will, support@itssimplewill.ca. Writing to that address works whether or not you can reach your account.

How long we keep it

We keep your answers and documents while your account is open, so you can update them within your included update window. Funeral keepsake photos are deleted 90 days after the planning session is completed. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to support@itssimplewill.ca; we aim to remove your account, answers and documents within 30 days. Some records are kept longer because the law requires it: purchase records for tax purposes (six years), the record of your acceptance of our Terms, and security logs.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Substantive changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect.
