Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the It's Simple Will service operated by Alamat IO Labs Corporation, operating as It's Simple Will ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, purchasing a product, or otherwise using this service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Last updated 2026-09-04.
What this service is
It's Simple Will is a DIY-assisted document drafting tool for Canadian residents. It is available in every Canadian province and territory except Quebec, whose civil law system has different requirements. We provide software that helps you prepare your own Will, Power of Attorney, Personal Directive, Life Discovery Kit and funeral pre-planning documents, and a separate Order of Service Planner for arranging a funeral. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and using this service does not create a solicitor-client relationship. The documents you generate are your own work product, assembled by the software from your answers.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) and of sound mind to use this service to draft a Will. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. The service is designed for Canadian residents; we may require additional verification or pre-payment from users accessing from outside Canada.
Your account
You may create one account per person. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at support@itssimplewill.ca if you believe your account has been compromised. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently.
Products and pricing
The Will bundle (Will Creator, Life Discovery Kit, Funeral Pre-Planner) is sold per couple and includes credits for two of each document. The current price is $99 CAD per couple. The Order of Service (Funeral) Planner is a separate standalone product, sold per session. The current price is $49 CAD per session. All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes. Will bundle credits expire three (3) years from the date of purchase if unused; Order of Service Planner credits expire two (2) years from the date of purchase if unused. We reserve the right to change pricing for future purchases; pricing for products you have already paid for will not change.
Refunds
Our refund policy is described in full at /legal/refund. In summary: if you ask on the same business day you purchased, and you have not yet generated any document, we refund the full amount. If you ask after that day but still before you have generated any document, we refund your purchase less the payment processing fee we were charged. Generating a document is the point where you receive what you paid for, so purchases are not refundable after that. Refund requests can be made up to 30 days after purchase, or until you generate a document, whichever comes first. Unused credits expire three (3) years from the date of purchase and expired credits are not refundable. To ask, go to Account, then Refund. If your purchase is still eligible, the refund is processed right away and you do not need to give a reason. If it is outside the window, the page will tell you and you can start a request from Support in your account.
Document updates
Your purchase includes three (3) years of updates to your documents at no extra cost, from the date of purchase — even after you have generated them. This is separate from refund eligibility, above: once generated, a document is not refundable, but it remains editable within this three-year window. After three years, you can choose to extend.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) use the service to draft documents for anyone other than yourself, your spouse, or your immediate family with their consent; (b) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or bypass the service's rate limits or access controls; (c) use the service to facilitate fraud, money laundering, or other illegal activity; (d) submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that violates the rights of others; (e) attempt to overwhelm our infrastructure or extract data beyond your own account. We rate-limit our APIs to protect the service from abuse; legitimate use will not be affected.
Intellectual property
You retain all rights to the personal information and document content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to process Your Content solely to operate the service and deliver your documents to you. We retain all rights to the It's Simple Will platform, including the software, document templates, questionnaire structure, brand assets, and the Clara/Will characters. You may not copy, redistribute, or repurpose the platform or its templates without our written permission.
AI-assisted features
Clara, our guide, can run as an optional voice conversation powered by a third-party AI model (currently Google's Gemini). In voice mode the model transcribes what you say, phrases the next question, and turns your answer into structured data. If you type instead, no AI is involved. The Order of Service Planner offers optional writing helpers that use the same model to draft an obituary, a eulogy or host remarks for you to review and edit. No AI writes the legal content of your Will, Power of Attorney or Personal Directive: those documents are assembled by our software from fixed, province-specific templates and your answers. AI output can contain mistakes. Please review anything it produces, and review your final documents, before relying on them. How the AI provider handles your information is described in our Privacy policy.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the documents you generate will be valid in any specific jurisdiction or under any specific set of facts. We strongly recommend you have your Will reviewed by a licensed lawyer in your province or territory before signing, especially if your situation involves significant assets, foreign property, business interests, blended-family complexity, or dependents with disabilities.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, It's Simple Will, its directors, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of profits, loss of data, or estate disputes arising from the use of documents generated by the service. Our total cumulative liability for any direct damages will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the service will be resolved in the courts of Alberta. If you are a consumer in Canada, nothing in these Terms limits any consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your province or territory that cannot be waived.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account by contacting support@itssimplewill.ca. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to protect the service or other users. On termination, your right to use the service ends; provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be surfaced in the app and emailed to you (if you have a valid email on file) before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
